Jesse Shaw is an artist and educator from Tennessee based in Laredo, Texas, where he teaches printmaking at Texas A&M International University. His work spans printmaking, installation, and performance, often combining traditional processes with experimental materials and collaborative production.
Rooted in narrative, satire, and political and social commentary, Shaw’s practice engages questions of American identity, mythology, and spectacle. His ongoing project, The American Epic, is a long-term series of prints exploring these themes, with over thirty works completed and exhibited nationally.
In addition to his studio work, Shaw has been an invited guest speaker at institutions including the University of Alaska Anchorage, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Vanderbilt Divinity School. He has also worked professionally in fine art print publishing at Durham Press in Pennsylvania, and regularly develops collaborative projects with students and community partners.
Shaw received his MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009 and his BFA from Austin Peay State University in 2007.
